It's San Giovanni!
It's San Giovanni (the patron saint of Torino) which means everybody who works in Torino has the day off and it also means 4 days of celebrations. It kicked off last night with with a costume parade and bon fire. Today there is a large street market on my street as well as MTV has taken over Piazza Castello. Tonight there will be fire works and music. So much to keep up with but don't worry, I will be happily blogging about it all.

That Italian pride at work again, don't you just love it? I just cannot imagine this happening in any UK city and a public holiday specific to the city, no way.
Oh I don't know about that LindyLou, I have seen some excellent pomp and costumes in London and I loved every minute of it! We don't have bank holidays, so you have that going for you.
I am going to have to work on my husband to move ...
Linda is totally right, this would NEVER happen in the UK... we are not even allowed the St George's Flag up in some places for fear of upsetting the immigrants...not the Union Jack either...
Italian postcards... Linda is right, you might of seen pomp and costumes in London .. but that is about it.. What were you seeing in London ??

I was in London for the Queen Mother's funeral and for the Golden Jubilee. They both had some incredible "parades" with all of the royalty.
