What Spring? Nonna Wears Her Fur Coat In the Summer.

I have mentioned before that the ladies of Rapallo, and most of Italy in general, love the fur coat. Now the days at the seaside are getting warmer and warmer as spring comes fast to the riviera, but this fact has eluded the fur loving ladies of Rapallo who seem to want to wear their furs until....well, I think they will still be wearing them in the summer.

There is no stigma to weraing fur in Italy is there :) Great minds think alike, I did a collage of furs out on parade for a recent Festa day in Marta!

When I was living in Florence I was amazed that the Italians wear their coats until the first day of spring according to the calendar, not the weather. Being a Minnesota-girl I just couldn't get over that but the Italians sure do know how to work it!

When I lived in Firenze I remember the fur coats coming out at the end of September, even if the weather was still hot! And such a fashion parade of fur coat styles that could be seen and admired all the way from Santa Maria Novella to the Palazzo Vecchio and back!

I also have noticed, in one of my Italy vacations, that Italian ladies really love to wear their coats even when the temperature is already warm. But I agree that there is no stigma to wearing fur in Italy. After all, it could have been part of their culture, right?
