What Makes a Good Tour Guide?

I have been asked to do a podcast tour guide of Torino. What I think is interesting and what other tourists might think is interesting could be quite different. So, my dear blog readers, I need your help. Tell me what you think makes a great tour guide. What do you find interesting? Art history? Architecture? Food highlights? Let me know and thanks everybody!

Food highlights definitely! and quirky stories that are related to the historic places and buildings. The stories make me feel like I am getting info that other tourists aren't getting!

I agree! Like some little know secrets of the city. Good call Sheena.

I also like a little personal note, i.e. places that are dear to the person who gives the guided tour.
Overall, how much art, how much history depends on the audience of the podcast. For a rather younger audience I would suggest more hot spots like shops, restaurants and so on. Is the podcast openly available later?

Thanks Toni! I don't think my audience will be that young but I do like the hot spots idea. I don't know when it will be available but I will for sure do a post about it.
