Before and Afters: The Bathroom
The bathroom before was blue and white floor to ceiling tile madness. It felt kind of sterile like a hospital. Now it has these awesome tiles that are textured to look like wood and has gorgeous marble counters. Check it out.

Let's Rally!
Pier's uncle and cousin are rally race car drivers and today they set off on a tour of Italy. Let's hope they don't run into the Giro d'Italia bike race. It all kicked off by the river today and we went down to wish them good luck.

I Was Walking To The Post Office...
I was walking along the street headed to the post office, minding my own business ,when I came upon a commercial being filmed. I have no idea what it was for. I guess I'll have to wait to see it on TV. Check it out:

Giro d'Italia
Yesterday the 11th stage of the Tour of Italy (Giro d'Italia) cycle race started outside my house! This is how close I was(picture on left) to Lance Armstrong (as well as all the other famous Italian Cyclists). I took some great pictures of all the celebration and start of the race of which brought out some of the craziest of cycle fans.

Weekend Market Finds
This weekend I was able to walk to the market. It was a beautiful day and the market was happening no far from my house and so I put on my best walking sandles and took a stroll. Lucky me the market was ripe with finds! Just check out these pics.

Saturday Night at the Castle
Saturday night Palazzo Madama was open free to the public and so Pier and I took a wonder around inside the palatial residence that we stare at everyday. Inside is series of grand rooms decorated with Baroque furnishings fit for a queen. We climbed on of the towers and took some pictures of the view which included our apartment!

Il Padrino's Voice
Did you know that there are so many movies and TV shows that come to Italy from the US and other countries that Italians don't do subtitles anymore. An entire industry for voice over actors has grown around the foreign film business. These actors will be assigned to a specific actor and play the voice of that actor in every film they star in. Take this example from The Godfather II.
Just for fun, here is an example of a TV show. Sex and the City promo on Sky. See if you can tell what they are saying.

Crazy Italian Commercials
I've got a new idea for a blog post series. Crazy Italian commercials. Why not share these Italian gems with my friends and family. This is my everyday life AND what what sells a candy bar in Italy.

This is Pier's face when his team (Toro) scores a goal.
He looks angry but really that's a happy face.

Perfect Sunday
This weekend we had a perfect Sunday. Well, perfect day for me that is. It started off with a cafe style breakfast at a friends house where we fill up on crossiants. You see we needed substance for the...drum roll... Marketino Per Un Giorno! (One day market). It's a fact that most city Italians don't have a garage and therefore no garage sales. So when they want to clean out their closet they sell everything at the one day market. It happens only 3 times a year and it's heaven well for a vintage lover like me. I didn't spend more than 5 euros for anything and if it wasen't for being with my old man I probably would have never left.
So having a thousand mini garage sales all at once was my perfect Sunday and I'll have to wait until Christmas time for the next one. I guess that will give me a chance to save up...

What is this Spring's It Bag?
For me it's this bag from Longchamps! Perfect black and white and clever with it's trompe l'oeil.
It's mean to make all of these beautiful things be on the way to the post office.
I found it in a window walking to the post office. I also walked by the Hermes store and saw their It Bag for spring. It was displayed with a little more drama. It mechanicaly opened and closed, moved up and down. I could have watched it for, well minutes at least.

In the spirit of recycling, these newspaper purses are all the rage around Torino. Each on is different depending on what the news was that day.
